QISSA I SANJAN

SIZE: 22” x 30”

MEDIUM: acrylics on paper

This work explores migration as both a historical and contemporary experience. Rooted in the displacement of the Zoroastrian community from Persia to Sanjan in Gujarat, the piece extends beyond a single narrative to address migration as a universal condition.

By incorporating varied skin tones, footwear, and tattoos, the imagery resists a fixed identity and instead reflects the diversity of people affected by forced movement today. The work positions migration not as an isolated event but as an ongoing global reality, shaped by loss, resilience, and shared human vulnerability.
