Graphic

This graphic design project examines migration through the lens of memory, belonging, and sensory experience. Rather than treating migration as a fixed identity, the work approaches it as an ongoing process of adaptation, exchange, and re-rooting.

Research into sensory memory informed the development of visual and material systems that evoke familiarity and comfort. Touch, smell, and taste were used as design tools, positioning the senses as carriers of emotional knowledge that often precede language or place.

Survey responses were translated into expressive graphic compositions using custom typography and colour to visualise feeling rather than data. This iterative practice allowed emotion to function as structure, shaping a visual language that evolved alongside the research.

The project culminated in a modular spice-packaging system designed for movement. The packaging enables the preservation of personal taste while encouraging cultural exchange, framing design as a mediator between memory and integration. Through typography, texture, and scent, the work proposes design as a space where home can be carried, rebuilt, and shared.
